Objectives
¿ Identifiy public health approaches based on the life course approach, at individual and family levels
¿ Identifiy the main determinants of health and the main causes of disease and death across the life course
¿ Identify opportunities for disease prevention and health promotion across the life course, having critical and sensitive stages into account
¿ Identify and select evidence-based strategies for maternal, child and teen health promotion
¿ Draw the principles of healthy diet in the life span and the role of physical activity in reducing the burden of disease and promoting healthy ageing
¿ Identify the main strategies for communicable and non-communicable disease control and prevention: high risk strategy and population strategy
¿ Caracterize population ageing in Portugal and identify strategies to promote healthy and active ageing

Teaching method
Theoretical sessions with presentation and debate about the module's contents, complemented with sessions dedicated to programmes or policies with invited speakers. Debate during sessions aims to stimulate critical thinking on the different issues.
Assessment: individual essay on a issue, chosen by the student, in a life course prespective. The essay aims to develop critical thinking and synthesis on the core concepts of health promotion across life course.
