Objectives

At the end of the unit, students should be able to: - Understand the evolution of health paradigms and their social context within the concept of "quality of life" and ¿wellness¿
- Define the concept of healthy life styles (HLS) taking into account existing theoretical and empirical approaches and identify its determinants
- Develop skills for the understanding of social and cultural contexts in relation to the needs of different populations within the adoption of HLS
- Apply innovative and socially sensitive methods to promote HLS and improve health literacy rooted in integrative perspectives
- Evaluate the impact of developing HLS on individual health and social sustainability

Teaching method

The teaching methodology seeks to promote an active and participatory learning environment, with reading of fundamental texts and discussion of topics. Part of the sessions will begin with a shared presentation, followed by a discussion of topics related to the subject under examination. Other sessions will be more practical with exercises, presentation of results and discussion of implications for the practice of HLS promotion. The seminars include group work facilitated by a teacher, where the application of the explored topics is developed.
Evaluation: Assessment of commitment, work and participation (20%), exercises in sessions involving group activity (40%), and individual evaluation (40%).
