Contemporary Audiovisual: Creation, Production and Distribution
Objectives
1.To understand the different historical moments of coexistence and convergence of audiovisual media, between fields such as cinema, television and the visual arts until the emergence of digital and networked audiovisual culture in its current form.
2.To develop theoretical and analytical skills to map the technological, social, political and cultural changes in the ecology of audiovisual media, resulting from the global transformations by new media in the context of the XXIst century.
3. To promote a critical approach to analyse different modes of audiovisual production and their relations, alternatives and institutional, aiming to provide a framework for integrated research.
4.To guide fundamental but also applied research, focusing on the production of practical objects within the field of contemporary audiovisual.

Teaching method
The expository methodology will accompany a practice of reading and interpreting in class, with full participation of the group, from references of various orders: bibliographic, audiovisual, cinematographic, interactive works for research and preparation of practical work.
The practical work has an experimental character, where it will be possible to develop an online audiovisual project, from different formats or objects, concretizing different forms of creation and diffusion.
Evaluation method
Continuous Assessment - Class participation in plenary debate mode(20%), Oral presentation, with argumentation and analysis of a subject of the course(20%), Practical work to develop an online audiovisual project, through the methodology of project design, creation of audiovisual content or content curation(30%), Written Essay(30%)
Subject matter
1. The passages in Audiovisual - proto-experiences
Historical mapping of the coexistence in the audiovisual field of experimental projects: video art, television utopias by Rosselini, radical projects by Jean Luc Godard or multimedia by Chris Marker.
2. Networked Multimedia - Contemporary Convergence
Understand digital changes in post-media audiovisual. Conceptualize remediation, intermediary, transmedia. Map technologies: broadband, Web 2.0, html5 and multimedia mobile phones.
3. Youtube: online audiovisual grid
Identify the matrix of the VOD platform on Youtube: interface, participative culture, produser, vernacular video. The interaction with social movements of XXIst century. Thinking the transversal gesture of the collaborative audiovisual archive in collective memory.
4. Streaming as a global strategy
Overview of VOD platforms. Problematize the presence of the screen as a post-pandemic social node. Map technologies: VR, 360º, AI in professional creation and production.
5. Audiovisual exercise in transition
Develop practical audiovisual project: creation or curation of content with exhibition format and network dissemination strategy.
