Terminology and Knowledge Organization
Objectives
- Know and criticize the main theoretical perspectives in terminology and knowledge organization;
- Know how to apply semasiological and onomasiological methods in terminology work, including the constitution and analysis of corpora of specialized texts and the analysis of different types of knowledge organization systems;
- Know the basic principles and technologies of the semantic web and linked data with regard to linguistic and terminological information;
- Know how to analyze, structure and link between terminological data in social sciences, arts and humanities.

Teaching method
The course includes theoretical classes based on the exposition of the syllabus. The practical classes will focus on the application of the syllabus to case studies and on the use of software tools, with priority to open source and/or free-touse software. Students will develop a project with report, based on the organization of linguistic or terminological data in a field of the social sciences, arts and humanities.
Evaluation method
Continuous Assessment - Activities of active participation in the classes(30%), Final Work(70%)
