Lexicography

Objectives

Development and improvement of skills in the field of Lexicography that allow students to understand the issues and object of study of Lexicography, the contribution of theoretical contents of lexicology and semantic description in the construction of lexical resources, the questions of adequacy and lexicographic purposes and the challenges of contemporary lexicography and metallexicography. In particular, students must be able to:
a) understand the concepts involved in the lexicographical description;
b) conceive, design and build lexicographic entries;
c) acquire, use and evaluate current methodologies for lexicographic editing and construction of lexical resources.

Teaching method

Theoretical-practical classes and tutorial guidance, using case studies and practical application of acquired knowledge, including:

(i) presentation of contents by the teacher;

(ii) discussion and critical analysis of thebibliography on topics of the syllabus;

(iii) practical application of knowledge acquired in individual and group work inspecific tasks, using computational tools.

Evaluation method

Continuous assessment - Active participation in seminar activities(30%), Project work, to be developed throughout the semester(70%)
