Objectives

1. acquire information about women's movements and activism in France;
2. become familiar with the main issues and concepts on feminism;
3. get acquainted with the evolution of feminism in France;
4. understanding and discussing topics related to feminism;
5. develop the capacity to write critical essays and other written texts on the topics studied.

Teaching method

60% of the contact hours concern theoretical courses. They include development of the main issues on the syllabusfocusing on cultural contexts of the works studied. Students are invited to refer to specialized databases, websites andscientific journals; Moodle will be used on a regular basis; practical courses will cover 40% of the contact hours andthey will consist on critical readings and analysis of texts from the corpus as well as theoretical texts.

Evaluation method

Continuous assessment - Students' participation(20%), Written work in class and an essay(80%)

  6.  The concept of feminine genius (Kristeva);

  7.  The eruption of feminism: ecofeminism, postfeminism, transfeminism and other anti-essentialisms.
