Teaching method
The work will be of a seminar nature, favouring the presentation and discussion of texts by the students.
Evaluation method
Assessment consists of a written assignment of around 12 pages (70 per cent); continuous assessment and class participation (30 per cent).
Subject matter
The course will deal with Heidegger’s interpretation of Nietzsche’s aesthetics, especially by studying the first part of the Volume I of Heidegger’s 1961 book on Nietzsche: the will to power as art. The course will also try to clarify Heidegger’s interpretation of Kant’s aesthetics, in particular the claim that Kant’s aesthetics is should be taken as a key to understanding Nietzsche’s.
