Methodological Topics in Portuguese Studies

Objectives

a) Know and deepen the problem of the nature of research in the humanities;
b) Know and master the main problems and research techniques in the scientific areas of the study cycle.
c) Understand and deepen the specific problems involved in preparing a doctoral thesis, in theoretical terms and in terms of individual preparation;
d) Have the ability to process the data revealed by the investigation and its scientific and critical interpretation.

Teaching method

The course takes place in a typical seminar environment, i.e. during exposure sessions, where the teacher is responsible for theoretical framework and delimitation of issues to discuss, that is primarily based on work such as reading and discussing texts in turn that are presented by the students in prescheduled sessions, (scheduled preferably at the beginning of the semester).

Evaluation method

Continuous Assessment - Final test regarding of the seminar topics that the student has looked at(60%), Participation of students in discussions and presentations of texts(40%)
