Teaching method

Content exposition through demonstration and analysis of reference examples. Realization of practical exercises, accompanied by the teacher.
Commented listening and monitoring of the work done by students throughout the CU. Interaction between teacher and students through the Moodle platform, where various fundamental materials are made available for the completion of the module.

Evaluation method

Continuous assessment - Activity report (preparation of a detailed report on the process of mixing and subsequentoral discussion of the report with the teacher)(30%), Mixing exercise (using a set of raw stems provided by the teacher, students make the final mix of a theme, using all the knowledge acquired during the module)(70%)

1. Stages of musical projects: recording, mixing and mastering.
2. Destructive and non-destructive editing.
3. Digital Audio Workstation (DAW): editor, sequencer, synthesizer and score editor.
4. Monitoring: objectives and adaptation to various contexts.
5. Analog and digital mixing desks: advantages, disadvantages and basic configuration.
6. Mixing in editing applications (DAW): specificities.
7. Routing: insert, auxiliary tracks and send/return.
8. Volume measurement: VU, Peak and LUFS.
9. MIDI protocol in the mixing process.
10. Equalization: graphic and parametric equalizer.
11. Dynamics: compressor, gate and limiter.
12. Effects processing: reverb, delay, phaser, chorus, distortion.
13. Panning and automatisms.
14. Fine tuning and tempo correction.
15. Synthesis and effects in the context of mixing.
16. Mastering and finalizing projects.
