Territorial Planning and Land Management Seminar
Objectives
a) To aware the student to the problematic of spatial and territorial planning at the different scales
b) To develop the critical and reflexive capacities of the student upon main present territorial problematic, as well as to increase its skills of analysis and understanding of plans and other land use planning instruments and mechanisms;
c) To deepen the student capacities in terms of proposal and elaboration of land use planning and land management solutions (after diagnosis and analysis), searching for the adequate relationship between theoretical concepts and its practical application, in real contexts (including political, institutional and legal aspects);
d) To address the components and mechanisms of territorial governance, in terms of participation and involvement of actors in territorial planning and management..

Teaching method
Given the theoretical-practical nature of the CU, from a methodological point of view, the elaboration of a project at a municipal or regional scale is privileged, according to the objectives of the discipline.
The practical work is carried out in groups.
Theoretical classes are taught in the form of a seminar, providing the necessary content for practical classes.
Practical classes are based on promoting the discussion of a topic with students, related to practical work, analysis of land use plans, monitoring and guidance of practical work.
- Lectures (50%): expository and participatory (debate);
- Practical classes (50%): application of methodologies, development of practical work;
Evaluation method
Continuous assessment - - Individual written test; - Group work on a theme related to the subject of the subject. The work aims at the practical application of knowledge acquired through classes.(100%)
Subject matter
1) The contemporary territories and the mutations of scales, dynamics and typologies;
2) Analysis and reflections upon main present problematic on the fields of spatial planning and spatial management;
3) The positioning of territorial strategic planning: visionary, operational, relational and collaborative;
4) Systematization and analysis of territorial management tools, at different scales;
5) Main politic-institutional,legal and socioeconomic aspects;
6) The concept, the strategy and the proposal in the context of planning development;
7) Territorial management in context of deepened governance dynamics;
8) Development, presentation and discussion of seminar projects.
