Education objectives

The MeRSIM – Master´s degree in Robotic Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems aims to provide advanced technical and scientific training in Robotics and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, and promote the development of personal and interpersonal skills suitable for work in a professional or academic context:

  • Design, develop and maintain autonomous intelligent manufacturing and robotic systems;
  • Solve complex industrial problems using intelligent systems, promoting digitization, the use of data science and artificial intelligence;
  • Perform experimental work using solid theoretical bases;
  • Explore new methodologies, tools or technologies for the development of robotic solutions or intelligent manufacturing systems;
  • Promote technological progress in an academic and business context;
  • Study, evaluate and implement innovative ideas and conduct meaningful research respecting the requirements imposed by business and academic quality, integrity and responsibility standards.

(a) 6 ECTS in courses chosen by the student on a list approved annually by the Scientific Council of NOVA FCT, which includes the unity of all scientific areas of NOVA FCT.

Conditions of admittance

To enter the Master´s degree in Robotic Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing Systems, students need to have a 1st cycle training in the areas of Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related areas. Candidates with similar backgrounds will be evaluated based on their Curriculum and professional experience. All candidates will have to be approved by the scientific committee, and may be subject to an interview, with the aim of evaluating their preparation and motivation for the Master´s course.
