Efficient Use of Water in Agroindustry

Objectives

At the end of the course unit, the student acquires skills that allow them to:

Understand the importance of water in agro-industry and the effects of industrial processes on water composition after use;

Evaluate the economic and environmental dimensions of efficient water use in the agro-industrial process; Implement strategies to increase water use efficiency in the short, medium, and long term.

Teaching method

The methodology consists in theoretical and practice lessons regarding the subject of the curricular unit using digital technologies.

Synthesis and presentation of the themes in digital forms (powerpoints) and made available to the students at the end of the classes.

Laboratorial lessons to experiment the analytical methods for the determination of chemical and physical parameters of water (electrochemical, photometrics and chromatographical methods).

Realization of study tours programme in agro-industries located in the region.

Evaluation method

The evaluation consists of 2 tests and a bibliographical research about the themes discussed in the classes related with the scientific area the course.

Final Exam to approve in the UC or to increase the classification obtained in the continuous evaluation.
