Objectives

The course "Research Methodology" aims to serve as a basis and an instrument for the

preparation of the master's dissertation that will allow the student to obtain a master's degree in Law. At the end of the semester, students attending the course will have developed the

necessary competencies to:



i) choose and delimit the subject of the dissertation;



ii) critically research and analytically treat information collected;



iii) to elaborate a project for the master's dissertation;



iv) to write the dissertation.

Theoretical-practical class.



A first part of the class consists of the presentation of the contents of a

master's dissertation. A second part of the class consists of the presentation by the students of their

master's dissertation projects, so that they can be analyzed and discussed by the teacher and the other

students.

I) 16 marks: Elaboration of the master's thesis project,



II) 4 marks: Participation in forums



 



I) Project evaluation grid:



a) Title and Subtitle (1 mark)



b) Abstract (2 marks)



c) State of the Art/Background (2.5 marks)



d) Objectives (2.5 marks)



e) Analysis model (2.5 marks)



f) Detailed description of the chapters, indicating the precise material to be analysed in each one (e.g. legislation, case law, doctrine) (2.5 marks)



g) Index (0.5 mark)



h) Timetable (0.5 mark)



i) Bibliography and referencing (2 marks)



Language: Portuguese or English.



Length: around 50,000 characters including everything (spaces, cover, bibliography, etc.).



 



Due date: 15 July at 23:59



 



II) Evaluation grid for participation in the forums:



a) Presentation of own work: 1 mark



b) Commenting on/contributing to colleagues' work: 1 mark



c) Posting a new version of the work on the forum, taking into account the comments of colleagues: 1 mark



d) Consistency of participation throughout the semester: 1 mark



It is possible to change the topic at any time.
