Teaching method
1. Lectures: lectures on the course material by the lecturer; students may pose queries and raise problems.
2. Tutorial: solution of practical cases specifically conceived to promote discussion of various aspects of the course material.
3. Seminar: analysis and consideration of Portuguese case law regarding the topics taught.
4. Supervised research. Students' research skills will also be encouraged via a project, the production of written commentaries on judgments of the Portuguese courts regarding the topics taught. This work will be supervised by the lecturer. Once concluded, the students work will be posted on the subject¿s Internet page and some of them will be published in specialized journals (see the texts already published in the Revista Portuguesa de Ciência Criminal 12, 13, 14, and 20, and in the book Prova Criminal e Direito de Defesa, Almedina, Coimbra, 2010, 8th edition 2020).
Evaluation method
Mandatory written examination (3 hours) and classification of the research paper (50%, 50%, or the classification of the written examination if higher).
