Teaching method

Theoretical and theory classes and seminars, with debate, in which the basic concepts to teach, will be transmitted with audio-visual support. Interpretation of problems and information taking into account the knowledge acquired in theoretical classes.

Evaluation method

The assessment will consist of:
a) Thematic work, prepared in a group and with joint preparation with the responsible teacher.
b) Individual written test.
The final classification will consist of 2 parts: thematic group work 16 values; individual component 4.

Subject matter

I. The five major groups of non-communicable diseases: cardiovascular, neoplastic, chronic respiratory, diabetes, mental health and their determinants.
II. The five internationally prioritized risk factors: inadequate diet, low level of physical activity, alcohol abuse, smoking and air pollution.
III. Distribution of diseases, their risk factors and their impact on the world.
IV. Strategies for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.
V. Characteristics of health systems to respond to the challenge of chronic diseases.
