Occupational Health and Safety in Healthcare

Objectives

Learning outcomes:
a) Identify and understand the relationships between work conditions and activity and health and safety effects in hospitals and other Health sectors and disease. Identify occupational hazards exposure oh health workers. Understand the relationships between Occupational Health and Safety and Patient Safety;
b) Understand that occupational hazard exposure and occupational risk determine a systemic risk management approach. In fact, the Hospital environment and their interactions with workers are complex; Emphasize the risk of exposure to biological agents and their prevention.
c) Propose hospital risk management programs aiming at the prevention of occupational hazards and health promotion.

Teaching method

Lessons with support projection means (powerpoint slides and other audiovisual methods). Exemplification in class with some exercises.
