Education objectives
The programme provides core competencies and knowledge that enable students to identify scientifically relevant problems in the fields of biomedicine and health sciences, and to translate these problems into experimentally testable hypotheses. Students are also expected to be able to evaluate, present, discuss, and communicate the results of their scientific work, clearly identifying its relevance to the advancement of knowledge and/or technology.
The Master¿s programme is flexible and follows a model of advanced courses offered annually from a diverse range of options. The NBR is an international programme that is clearly student-centred and research-based. The official language of instruction is English.

Degree pre-requisites
1st Semester:
Students must complete 25 ECTS in course units attended, which are organized in theoretical and/or practical advanced training modules in the aforementioned areas.
2nd Semester:
Students must complete 10 ECTS in course units organized as Advanced Training Modules within their Master¿s specialization branch, 7 ECTS in the Thesis Project course unit, and 18 ECTS in laboratory rotations, totaling 35 ECTS for this semester.
3rd and 4th Semesters:
Research work for the preparation of the Master¿s dissertation will take place. Each student must complete one elective course unit in any of the programme's specialization branches, provided it differs from their main area of specialization. Upon completion of the research work, students must submit it in the form of a Master¿s dissertation for public presentation and defense.
Conditions of admittance
The Master¿s programme is designed to attract highly motivated and qualified students who have successfully completed a first cycle of studies in fields suited to the pursuit of a specialized career involving a strong component of Biomedical Research. These fields include first-cycle training in areas such as Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnological Engineering, or related fields.
