Master in Clinical Research Management

Education objectives

Medical research, particularly clinical research, is a key activity for advancing innovation in healthcare. Due to its nature and ethical considerations, it is highly regulated, requires complex infrastructures distinct from basic research, and is often carried out alongside clinical duties. Support structures for research teams in the planning and implementation of clinical studies are crucial to ensure their efficiency. They also guarantee proper compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.

This cycle of studies aims to train highly qualified professionals to support the professionalization of clinical research in healthcare units, universities, biobanks, pharmaceutical and health technology companies, as well as organizations involved in research management. While the programme focuses primarily on developing professional skills in Clinical Research Management, it will also encourage some students to pursue third-cycle (PhD) studies in Health Sciences research.

The Master's programme will be held either in Aveiro (University of Aveiro) or in Lisbon (at the facilities of NMS|FCM, NOVA University Lisbon). Each edition of the programme will take place entirely at one of the locations, alternating annually, with this information made available at the time of application.

In the academic year 2025/2026, the programme will take place at the University of Aveiro
