Teaching method
1) Reflection on the approach to technical and scientific texts and presentations on theoretical aspects and the translation process
2) Practical translation exercises that involve researching terminology, using tools and applying translation strategies and techniques in practice
3) Realisation of an individual translation project:
- Analysis of the source text
- Commented translation and glossary of a technical or scientific text
- Report on the work process
Evaluation method
Continuous assessment - Assiduity and Participation: active engagement in classes, presentations and exercises (70%), Individual project: analysis, commented translation and glossary (30%)
Subject matter
1) Translate texts from different areas of technical and scientific translation such as medicine, biology, gastronomy, physics, engineering, technology, etc.
2) Carry out a text analysis relevant for the translation
3) Research appropriately specific terminology
4) Reflect on and substantiate translational decisions
5) Create commented translations and glossaries
