Objectives
a) Acquire knowledge of the historiography and social theory relating to the perception and construction of temporality.
b) Develop the ability to understand the theoretical principles of the subject.
c) Contact with methodologies for analysing the social and scientific construction of temporality.
d) Develop oral and written presentation skills, integrating the vocabulary and specific categories of the subject.
e) Develop a reflective and critical attitude.

Teaching method
- 50% theoretical lessons (oral presentation of the subject)
- 50% practical lessons: continuous assessment, with the accompanied completion of assessment elements 3 a) and 3b)
Evaluation method
Continuous assessment - Attendance at all practical classes is compulsory. Non-attendance implies a penalty in the individual grade for each assessment element, between 5% and 10%, depending on the total number of absences.(0%), Completion of 2 practical assignments in class - a) essay analysing historiographical texts (35%); micro-research essay on a case of ‘use of the past’, in groups (35%)(70%), Written test summarising knowledge, with consultation, individual(30%)

1 Concepts and their historicisation: temporality(ies), history, memory, tradition, genealogy(ies). The different ways of perceiving, organising and transmitting the past.
2 History, memory and the social construction of the past in different epochal and geographical frameworks.
3) History science as a response to Memory? The treatment of memorial perceptions in historiographical discourse.
4 The reconfiguration of historical information: archives as institutions of social memory.
5.Memories without and with context: proposals from the social sciences on memorialising vacancies.
