The History of the Printed Book
Objectives
a) Understand and identify the different phases that typography has gone through since its appearance until today;
b) Learn to distinguish the different graphic “types” either by the design of the writing forms or by their functions within the typographic range;
c) Understand the printing process, analyzing the different phases: planning and regulating the book, composition, printing, assembly and binding;
d) Know the graphic elements that make up a book: capital letters, decorative stripes and engravings;
e) Know the main historiographical interpretations of the topics studied.
f) Know the fundamental bibliography of the topic and be able to work with historical documents on the topic.
g) Develop oral and written communication skills, integrating vocabulary and specific categories of the topics covered
