Education objectives

At the end of the postgraduate programme, students should be able to:

1. Critically contextualise contemporary challenges and trends in culture and creativity, in relation to innovation, technology, interculturality, and the political, social, and economic frameworks of the cultural and creative industries.

2. Understand the social, educational, and economic relevance of culture and the creative industries for audiences’ quality of life, the future of cities, and the competitiveness and prosperity of countries.

3. Analyse transformations and trends across different cultural and creative sectors, including the arts, cultural heritage, design, media, cultural tourism, and the publishing and audiovisual industries.

4. Design and produce editorial content, narratives, and communication strategies suited to cultural projects, organisations, and brands.

5. Plan, programme, and develop projects, products, services, businesses, and policies in the cultural and creative sectors.

6. Identify, assess, and mobilise national and international public and private funding opportunities for cultural and creative projects.

7. Apply acquired knowledge and competences to contexts of teaching, research, and societal intervention.

8 . Communicate ideas, projects, and results effectively to different audiences and stakeholders in academic, professional, and institutional contexts..

Degree pre-requisites

Total credits: 60 ECTS (10 credits based in the compulsory curricular units and 50 credits to be chosen in a set of elective optionals).

(1 ECTS - European Credit Transfer System = a 28-hour workload).

Conditions of admittance

Application and access conditions to the cycle of studies reflect the conditions established in the national legislation, namely: - To hold a degree (1st cycle), or legal equivalent; - To hold a foreign academic degree recognized by the Scientific Council (SC) of NOVA FCSH; - To hold an academic, scientific or professional curriculum vitae, recognized by the Scientific Council (SC) of NOVA FCSH. Applicants will be selected and ranked according to the criteria annually defined in the application edict.

Evaluation rules

The assessment regulations in force at the host institution are adopted. Each curricular unit provides a detailed description of its assessment methods. 1.) No compulsory prerequisites are required for enrolment in the curricular units of the postgraduate course. 2) Assessment is individual in nature and will take place at the end of the teaching semesters. Knowledge assessment may include written and/or oral final examinations, coursework or other forms of assessment undertaken by students within the scope of the various curricular units, under conditions to be defined by the respective lecturers. Assessment results will be expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20. 3.) A student is deemed to have passed a curricular unit if they obtain a final mark of 10 or higher. 4 - The final course mark will be the weighted arithmetic mean, calculated in accordance with the number of ECTS credits assigned to each curricular unit.
