Teaching method
Lectures, with dialogue with the students, and practical classes, solving practical cases and discussing current constitutional issues.
Evaluation method
- Compulsory final written exam: 100% if it is the only assessment element;
- Compulsory final written exam: 60% if complemented by an optional mid-term test, which is worth 40% of the final grade, provided it is higher than the semester exam.

1. Contemporary, Comparative and Portuguese Constitutionalism: a brief overview
2. The Constitutional Order of the Portuguese Republic: structure and evolution of the 1976 Constitution (CRP)
3. Fundamental Principles (Introduction to the CRP): the Rule of Law, the Republican State, the Secular State, the Democratic State, the Decentralised Unitary State
4. Organisation of Political Power (Part III of the CRP): legal-public bodies; legal-public functions and acts; legislative acts in particular; legislative procedure
5. Guaranteeing and revising the Constitution (Part IV of the CRP): revising the Constitution; guaranteeing the Constitution in general; the unconstitutionality of legal-public acts; the consequences of unconstitutional legal-public acts; monitoring constitutionality; the constitutional state of exception
