Master´s Degree in Biomedical Sciences
Education objectives
The Master in Biomedical Sciences seeks to respond to new problems and challenges facing this century in order to:
1) Promote the acquisition and understanding of knowledge in the field of biomedical research, with a focus on the study of the characteristics and dispersion of relevant pathogenic agents (and their possible vectors), especially in a tropical context;
2) Provide knowledge and develop understanding skills that provide the basis, and the opportunity, to explore skills in the technical, scientific and technological innovation domains related to the use of technologies in biomedical sciences;
3) Promote the application and integration of knowledge in new contexts, which stimulate the ability to understand and resolve diverse problems related to biomedical sciences and associated technologies;
4) Develop analysis and evaluation skills, in the theoretical and practical domains of biomedical sciences, which allow the student to present solutions or make judgments, including reflections on the ethical and social implications and responsibilities that result from, or condition, these solutions and judgments;
5) Develop skills, abilities and research methodologies associated with the various domains of biomedical sciences, in order to promote the development of multidisciplinary research that contributes to the analysis and resolution of health problems at local and global level, highlighting the multidisciplinary approach known as One Health;
6) Develop scientific synthesis and communication skills that enable students to correctly and adequately present knowledge, reasoning and conclusions to different audiences and society in general;
7) Develop learning skills that allow the student, in a self-guided and autonomous way, to pursue their personal and professional development throughout their life.
