Research Seminar II
Objectives
The main objectives are:
L01: Familiarize students with the research process, namely research design that is at the center of a research project, since design outlines how the project will be conducted and guides data collection, analysis and report preparation.
L02: Assist students in developing their PhD project, supported by a clear definition of the research problem and research design formulation
L03: Monitor students in determining the state-of-the-art research in their respective topics via a critical review of the literature
L04: Develop competences in scientific communication, both oral and written

Teaching method
This course will be using a diverse set of teaching methods to promote students´ ability to develop in an autonomous but oriented way the doctoral thesis project and a literature review paper. Students will be challenged to link business with research problems as well as to evaluate both conference papers and scientific journal articles.
The classes should promote the debate between faculty and students, and also between students themselves, who are invited to comment on the choices made by their colleagues and make suggestions for improvement.
Evaluation method
This course requires the preparation, presentation and discussion of a literature review paper (70%) and a written Exam on Research Methodology (30%).
