2. A narrativa gótica - obscuridade e inquietação em Sheridan Le Fanu: “The Watcher”

3. Charles Dickens e a ligação com o público - o conto como “mercadoria”; o sketch impressionista e o monólogo dramático: “A Christmas Tree” e “George Silverman’s Explanation”; facto vs imaginação: Hard Times

4. Thomas Hardy - a mesma busca das tradições locais comunitárias nos contos e nos romances: “The Three Strangers”, “The Fiddler of the Reels”; Tess of the D’Ubervilles.
