Objetivos
- Acknowledge the value of linking language learning with citizenship education;- build an understanding of processes of negotiation of identities for culturally diverse students;- link educational policies and education for democracy, human rights and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals;- develop the ability to critique, engage and social action beyond the immediate state and society;- build intercultural understanding and develop skills of intercultural communication;- build on the subject knowledge of European debates, processes and issues on citizenship education;- reflect on and review critically the professional identity of the MFL educator;- develop skills and competences for civic communication and participation

Método de ensino
The seminar will include opportunities to experience, compare, analyse, interpret, reflect on a variety of materials and topics. Whenever possible students should engage in a process of service learning targetting real-world issues while connecting knowledge and critical understandings of meaningful action. The teaching-learning process to be developed in this course unit takes place in a virtual environment (e-learning, with recourse to the Moodle platform). The learning methods used combine individual study with collaborative work.

Continuous assessment - Students are required to carry out individual reading and research work and to develop a critical reflection on the course materials. Assessment is continuous, and based on the quality and pertinence of discussions and on the works (individual and group) presented for discussion and evaluation(100%)
